The hobbies take over ...

This was written in 2019, and for some reason got lost in Blogger purgatory (?). So here goes
Back to the lake...
Back to the lake...
The urge hits us long before the weather is warm and the landscape changes.
We love the change in our surroundings as we go from this
to this
Summer is the time of hobbies for us. Whether it is tinkering with the road, or
with a car, or in the garden, summer allows us to take our time and putter away
at whatever seems to catch our fancy at the moment.
Road work is always there, and the road can always be
improved. This year the rains in our
area of the country in the spring seemed never ending and areas of the road
flooded that had never previously been underwater.
This causeway is a project from a previous year (it was improved a lot) and now it sports wildflowers growing naturally on the road edges (the water is a beaver pond with many water lilies)
Our big orange friend (the Kubota backhoe tractor) was put to good use, but did manage to get stuck in the mud twice. After the second time the decision was made to wait the rain out and let the road dry up a bit. Turned out to be a good decision!!
Our big news though concerns the item that was in close to a thousand pieces, and is now in one piece (I think). Yes indeed - Bob’s Porsche is now back together, engine in the place where it should be and the whole thing on the road.
The process took a good length of time as every part was removed, cleaned, measured and then its future decided. Some parts were replaced entirely, some were put back and some others were worked upon to get these to an appropriate quality level. Next item is a track certificate (basically a health certificate for a car) so he can go to the track and go fast. All good, though I have no idea what he will do all day now.

I know, you get this photo a couple of times a year it seems |

As for me, I spend my time putter about in a number of
gardens, but I will do write that one on its own.
